An apron serves two purposes for an awning. 1) It keeps out drafts and wind. 2) It keeps mosquitoes out. The Dometic inflatable awning comes with a nice apron. However, it doesn't cover the wheel arch. Because the "chrome" wheel arch has a unique shape, there isn't a suitable cover available (in 2024). So we make our own. The advantage is that Eriba has fitted the wheel arch with a standard notch.

In the photo on the left, we're testing it: does it fit and does the tendon pull easily through the wheel arch? In the photo on the right, the bottom tendon is also sewn on and fitted with a connecting strip.

But... the Dometic apron itself doesn't have a way to secure the bottom. In strong winds, the entire apron blows backward or forward, out of or into the awning. Solution: we equip the apron with seven eyelets so it can also be secured at the bottom with small pegs.

Better photo coming up...
