Under construction! (See page in Dutch...)
It's a bit unclear which gas tanks the Eriba's gas locker is designed for. Our considerations are:
- As much as possible electric instead of gas. Heating, refrigerator, boiling water: none of that needs to be gas.
- Same gas tanks for both the indoor and outdoor kitchen, so they're interchangeable, which is handy when one is empty.
- Preferably not too big or too heavy, so there's more room for other things in the drawbar box.
We found two empty second hand Campingaz 907 tanks for 15 euros. Saves a lot on the deposit. An advantage over the green gastanks: age doesn't matter; everything is exchangeable. Small tanks means room for an extra shelf in the drawbar box.
The photo on the left shows the original Eriba pressure regulator. We're replacing it with one that fits Campingaz bottles. (Photo on the right.) We're also completely removing the top mounting brackets (with strap) and shortening the bottom brackets. (See pictures below.)
Thanks to the relatively small gas tanks, we can install an extra shelf in the drawbar box.
The top mounting brackets with straps are no longer needed. We'll use the holes with M4 drive-in nuts that become available for the new installed shelf. We'll shorten the bottom brackets, creating extra space between the two gas bottles. Side flaps are attached to the shelf for more stable mounting. The photos show how it was and how it will be...
And furthermore. We've now created more space in the drawbar locker, so there's room for two gas bottles, all the wiring, and pegs. However, the drawbar box is still small; you might also want to store toilet fluids or anything else in it. Therefore, we decided to build an extra box on the drawbar. See: ##link follows
Comments and questions:
Forumlid_quai: Are those M4 nuts on the top gas bottle brackets the only ones holding the shelf in place? Answer: No, there are extra screws in the back panel (short!), and there are small brackets at the top of the side flaps. These brackets really make the shelf heavy-duty. (See the detail in the photo with the gas spring...)
