No matter how basic our camping trips used to be, a caravan gives you a bit more room for comfortable gear.

Small electric kettle

An electric kettle saves gas. This model is compact, sturdy, and collapsible. Power consumption just 600W... It weighs approximately half a kilogram.

Kill wasps or rather chase them away?

Catching wasps: we had a plastic container on glass jars. It works well with Guinness beer and syrup inside. Adding soap counteracts surface tension so wasps suffer less on their way to death. (First photo...)

But... We discovered that chasing them away with water in a spray bottle works very well too! The wasp seems to think it is raining and goes back to her or his nest. Of course a more animal-friendly way... You see them struggle to fly for a moment and then: off they go!

 

Small Heaters

Of course, you can score a small heater at one of the camping discounters. But there are also nice versions available to order from China, for example with a retro look that goes well with the Eriba...

They are PTC ceramic, with a high efficiency rate. The heater in the first photo is 450W / 700W switchable. The heater in the second photo offers 800W / 1200W switchable.

Jerrycan

To refill water somewhat easily, you need a manageable jerrycan with a flexible spout.

We found a nice version, with venting (2x: both in the cap and on the back) and with an extendable spout that fits onto a tap.

But even with the included tap and spout, it wasn't practical. To make this work really well, we placed an extra aluminum handle on the back (waterproof) and made an extra long and sturdy spout ourselves.

Now refilling water is a piece of cake.

 

Making coffee

Coffee makers that use capsules tend to consume too much power for camping. However, this Hibrew operates on 12V= and uses 5A. As a result, one delicious espresso takes about five minutes. But hey, it’s vacation: no rush. We replaced the flimsy stand with aluminum. And we shortened it to prevent splashing. (Last photo, coming up.)

Candles

Electric candles are much safer compared to real ones. We chose a set of six small candles. Rechargeable simultaneously via a single USB port.

The flicker effect is adjustable, and there is even a timer function: 6 hours on / 18 hours off. Cosy dark evenings.

 

Airfryer

We had a small 800-watt oven (see photo), but this Airfryer is actually more convenient: lighter and smaller. There are very few Airfryers with low power consumption. This small MA300 from Mestic uses 900W.
